Prayer Plates are meant to be used at the dinner table to encourage children to say the grace and to teach them a variety of dinnertime prayers. Children love to be the center of attention and love having their own special plate to eat from each night. It's a tradition that will not only be remembered but, hopefully, passed down through the years...along with the plate.The idea of Prayer Plates came to me one day shortly after the September 11th Tragedy. I was reading an article on how Americans were feeling the need to bring back more traditional things in their lives. I began to think of my own family and the things that I wanted my children to remember from their childhood. I also wanted to create a keepsake that they could pass on to their own children one day. I wanted to duplicate a set of personalized hand painted plates my husband had been given as a child. My children eat from them today and I love the idea of that.
